An electronic service address (ESA) is an alias or word used by your SMSF that represents the provider that superannuation data should be sent to, for contributions, rollovers and release authorities. It is mandatory in majority of scenarios for a SMSF to have an ESA. If you are unsure if you need to have an ESA and how SuperStream will work for your SMSF please refer to this guide from the ATO.
wrkr is a provider of ESA services and through our wrkr ESA and SMSF Hub portal, SMSFs are able to receive contribution data and process rollovers and release authorities.
When employers make contributions to SMSFs, SuperStream requires that a remittance advice is also sent alongside payment. The remittance advice must be sent via an electronic message through SuperStream, which is specified through the ESA provider that has been provided to an employer by the SMSF. If clients use wrkr as their ESA, this will ensure that any SuperStream data is sent to wrkr which is fully SuperStream compliant.
SMSFs are able to view all their data through the SMSF Hub portal - provided it was sent using the wrkr ESA. If the wrkr ESA was not used for a specific contribution, rollover or release authority, data will not be visible.
Important to note: an ESA only receives SuperStream data - we do not receive or process payments to or from your SMSF at any part of the process. The ESA for wrkr is the word wrkrSMSF.
