If a rollover is attempted through an APRA fund but has received an error, it is generally because there is a discrepancy between the SMSF information within the rollover request and the SMSF information recorded with the ATO.
When a rollover request is submitted, SMSF fund details including the following are verified by the ATO:
- ESA
- SMSF ABN
- SMSF Bank account details to receive the rollover
If there is a discrepancy, the ATO will return a verification error which may relate to ESA or member details. This relates to discrepancies of information within the ATO for your SMSF - not within wrkr.
An individual can update their SMSF details with the ATO directly by:
- online at abr.gov.au
- through a registered agent
- by phone 13 10 20 – you must be the authorised contact for your SMSF
Note: the member should have a copy of a personalised ATO document (such as a personal income tax assessment from the last three years) for identity purposes.
